Anyway, back to a 'normal' topic, I fixed my numberplate. The original idea was to get a small piece of metal to remake the tail tidy, but after popping down to Metropolis, which looks great now that it's got Ducatis in the showroom, I got hold of a transparent numberplate, which I marked up and Artur cut and drilled for me.
I was sat in the steam room this morning after an early morning trip to the gym, which, I hate to admit, is where I do a great deal of thinking about life, love, life and motorbikes. It was either Friday, or yesterday when I was writing up the 'ride to the Ducati factory' article on my bucket list which planted an idea in my consciousness. After thinking about riding the Ducati 'home', I started thinking about what it would take, in terms of time, money, logistics and strength of character to ride the Zx7r home.....to Japan. At the moment, my life is going nowhere and nowhere fast. I feel that I'm in an almost constant state of waiting, waiting for that change and waiting to move in with Sarah, which I have been after for a long time now. I'm not happy at home and I'm certainly not happy at work for various reasons, the main one being that I don't feel appreciated in any meaningful way, which is no way to live on a daily basis. I'm reminded on the book by Matthew Crawford 'The case for working with your hands, or why office work is bad for us and fixing things feels good' which I've reviewed in the 'motorcycle media' section. I've done my current job on and off now for fifteen years and I've seen it all. I've reported of the traffic effect of the London bombings, the IRA's attempts to blow up the M5 and M6, the floods, the snow, riots, the Olympics, stabbings, shootings, suspect 'art' packages placed around Hammersmith, suicides in Marble Arch and at the Dartford River Crossing, the Icelandic volcano, you name it, sadly it's nothing is new to me. I know my job inside out and its now dull and repetitive. I can tell you exactly which roads gets busy in a London morning rush hour, when and for how long. I need new challenges, new reasons to get out of bed at 03:30 in sub zero temperatures and riding my Ninja to Japan may just be it. I may even be able to write a book about it. Not sure how Sarah would feel thou, which is buy far the most important part. She is everything to me. Everything Anyway, back to a 'normal' topic, I fixed my numberplate. The original idea was to get a small piece of metal to remake the tail tidy, but after popping down to Metropolis, which looks great now that it's got Ducatis in the showroom, I got hold of a transparent numberplate, which I marked up and Artur cut and drilled for me. Five mins later and my plate is now back securely attached to the arse end of the green meanie. Not bad for a bit of bodgery. I plan on changing where I park so I don't have to worry about anybody smacking into the back again. London - hate it

MeMy name is Matt Brown and I'm a UK journalist formerly based in London, but now calling the South of England home. I've been riding bikes since 2007, but got hooked straight away. Nothing gives me the feeling of freedom, even when stuck in a city. In 2010 I became a RoSPA gold rider, but when it comes down to it, I'm Just a normal man, riding his bikes as often as he can.
