I, like most people, don't actually like my job. Yes there are elements to it that I like and when I'm there I make sure I do it right and to the best of my ability. Taking pride in what one does for a living is, I think very important. It shows a depth in character. There is one thing that I like about my job above all else and that is I have a real reason to ride my bike twice a day. I work in central London which delivers all manner of adventures. There are the Toyota Prius drivers supposedly saving the world, but making sure that they have their fog lights on guaranteeing that any extra energy the car has saved is wasted in light pollution. There are the mini-cab drivers who think its perfect acceptable to drive at night, in fog with only one single side light working. Cyclists wearing black, no lights, jumping reds. Pedestrians too stupid to understand, let alone have read the green cross code (do you see that crossing 30ft away? That's for your safety, not mine). Scooter riders who don't understand or don't care that a motorbike has to 'stand up' before it was be ridden away. To finally car drivers who see the streets of London as a battle zone where every inch of tarmac has to be fought for. Where driving whilst talking, texting or surfing the web on their mobiles is acceptable. Look, I'm not anti any group in London, or any city for that matter. What I am is anti idiot. The people who cant see past the end of their respective bonnets, who don't understand that everybody on the road is vulnerable in some way or another. We all what to get to where we're going safely and we all want to be able to kiss the ones we love when we get home. The Highway and Green Cross codes are there for a reason. They are there for safety. Despite all these hazards, idiots and hardships. Shouldn't I just drive to work, get public transport, cycle or walk? Why? I'm a motorcyclist and riding is what I do.
Well Christmas has been interfering with the amount of time Ive had free to update the site, which I feel a bit bad about. My wonderful girlfriend helped me take some photos last week allowing me to update the 'my kit' section, but now I'd just like to write a little something about my ride to work.

MeMy name is Matt Brown and I'm a UK journalist formerly based in London, but now calling the South of England home. I've been riding bikes since 2007, but got hooked straight away. Nothing gives me the feeling of freedom, even when stuck in a city. In 2010 I became a RoSPA gold rider, but when it comes down to it, I'm Just a normal man, riding his bikes as often as he can.
