With the FireBlade still on the shop, I took the Ducati down to the first 'Manic Monday' bike meet at Wareham Quay. For those who haven't been to Wareham, the Quay, in my opinion, is pretty much the only reason to go there. The town, which does have a supermarket does have a few little shops and banks, but its certainly not a town that you could spend more than an hour exploring, unless you want to sit by the quay and enjoy the sunshine.

The night started out as a way to get a few people together and through the power of social media quickly took on a life of its own. During the week a story emerged about an issue a young motocross rider was having with the community and as a show of solidarity, the event was dedicated to her. I really enjoyed getting out there and finally meeting and greeting a few of the fellow Dorset riders. The machines on display were a nice mix of sportsbike, cruisers, off roaders and customs and it was a good little event.
With a clear limit to the amount parking at the event and with the site being popular with tourists and locals alike, if this event does kick off and get larger, I can see a few issues arising. However, with proper marshalling and the good nature that all the riders displayed yesterday, it could easily be another great little Dorset bike night down by the water.
Kevin and the rest of the organisers can hold their heads up high this morning. They did a great job.

    Me

My name is Matt Brown and I'm a UK journalist formerly based in London, but now calling the South of England home. I've been riding bikes since 2007, but got hooked straight away. Nothing gives me the feeling of freedom, even when stuck in a city. In 2010 I became a RoSPA gold rider, but when it comes down to it, I'm Just a normal man, riding his bikes as often as he can.
